A Bird’s Eye’s view of Bobo II + III

In its original configuration the plant was built in stages between the 1980s and 1999 and equipped with five MAN 18V28/32 engines with a total output of about 20 MWe. In 2014, two expansions were ordered.

Each consisted of two MAN 12V48/60 engines and raised the plants electrical capacity by approximately 24 MW. Thanks to the new engines the country’s total installed electrical generating capacity will be increased by around 20 percent. Once the expansions are finished, the plant’s overall capacity will have risen to 67MW.
“We are making good progress”, comments project lead Martin Chmiela on the progress of the work on site. “The first two engines have been installed and we expect delivery of the other two to happen in September and October. We will kick-off the commissioning-phase for the Bobo II part of the expansion soon.”
